2024 Season Tour Calendar
Keep an eye out each week for updated dates and times for upcoming trips. The Hudson River operates on its own timetable, dictated by its tides, regardless of our plans. We strive to adapt and embrace what the river presents to us as we go with its flow.

What are the tidal currents in the Hudson River?

The estuary usually has two high and two low tides in twenty-four hours. With this rise and fall come changes in the direction of flow. In general, a rising tide is accompanied by a flood current flowing north towards Troy, a falling tide by an ebb current flowing seaward.
What is the current speed of the Hudson River?

The low tide in the Hudson is just like the trough between two massive ocean waves. At its maximum, the current moved at 2.44 knots. This is almost 3 miles per hour. A kayak that travels 4 miles in an hour can be severely affected by such a current.
